Our mission is to convey to the universal Church, by means of books and audio/visual aids, God’s amazing works and significant messages amid the unprecedented fiery trials/persecutions of the Church in China ever since the nation’s Communist rule in 1949. What plagued the Church in this vast continent of over one billion people is extremely noteworthy and must not be ignored; for, through it all, there is much that God is conveying to and alerting Christians worldwide (Psalm 28:5).
The fiery trials have clearly revealed what ministries were merely “wood, hay and straw” that were burned and reduced to ashes and what were “gold, silver and precious stones” that shone through fire to glorify the name of the Lord. There was the sad realization that in fact very few were of the latter category. It was also shocking to find that most ministers with excellent scriptural knowledge, spiritual gifts and huge congregations were among the ones who fell tragically or compromised with the world. This serves as a wake-up call from God to His children worldwide to truly and humbly walk in the way of the cross and to prepare for the fire at the Judgment Seat of Christ (I Cor. 3:13).
Those faithful few who did not fall and despair were able to testify, by God’s grace, as God’s elite soldiers and truly “follow the Lamb wherever He goes” (Rev. 14:4)! Unlike most “spiritual giants” who stumbled, they were the lowly ones who loved the Lord wholeheartedly and at any cost – “knowledge puffs up, but love edifies” (I Corinthians 8:1). Many aspects of their life and ministry are worthy of our imitation – as they imitated Christ (I Cor.11:1; Hebrews 13:7).
On the other hand, the failures of those who fell or compromised with the world in their spiritual walk can serve as warnings to God’s children ((I Cor. 20:11-12) as they learn to be more humble and trusting in following the Lord. “Without Me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5); and so any ministry without the Lord will be merely “wood, hay and straw” that cannot stand the test of fire and has no eternal value.
In addition to such testimonies and messages, the Ministry also published the works of a few selected ancient saints in the church history who were greatly used by the Holy Spirit. Such works are very helpful in leading God’s children walk in the path of life – that is: the narrow way of the cross.
In an effort to share the messages and testimonies with the English-speaking Church, the Ministry has begun translating some of its books, originally written in Chinese, into the English language.
History of the Ministry
This Ministry was founded around 1995 by Brother Joshua Yu in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Brother Joshua Yu was born in China in 1926 and was baptized in 1942. During the years 1946-1956, he preached the gospel at numerous universities, churches, etc. Shortly after China came under Communist rule in 1949, the persecution of Christians began. In 1958, he was arrested for his faith in Christ and exiled to remote Labor Camps for more than 21 years. His late father, Dr. Chenhua Yu, was also arrested for his faith and died a martyr in 1956. By God’s intervention, Joshua was released in 1979 and became an English teacher in a well-known university in Shanghai. Again miraculously, God led him out of China to the United States of America in 1986 to become a traveling minister with the burden to share with the western world about the true “way of life” (Matthew 7:13-14; 21-23).
Around 1995, the Lord led Brother Joshua Yu to establish the Chinese Christian Testimony Ministry.
